They're very anti-American.

Anyone who knows me is very aware that I've raised serious criticisms of American foreign policy. And there are a lot of elements about American mainstream culture that I find off-putting. And I certainly do not like the mainstream media as well.

I do not, however, hate the U.S. I will not make stupid jokes about the Bush administration and Texans. [It's much more charming and original to make fun of oneself. ;)] Yes, many politicians frustrate me. Their actions even embarrass me sometimes. But it just doesn't seem worthwhile to make blanketing statements that deride this country.

The obvious point is that one can never really make sweeping statements about the citizens of U.S. and their political beliefs. This country is just too diverse.

Blogger Pro?

I wish I had Blogger Pro so I could upload photos, and show y'all a picture of my lovely new residence. But for some reason, I woke up from a nap, and my stomach hurts. So I've been playing on the computer instead. I also bought this book online.

I'm hoping I will feel better within a few hours.

BTW--I finally received my hall allocation. I have a single in University Hall. It's in the Lumsden Wing (which is still attractive, in my opinion), on the fourth floor of the building, and has a sink. The floor is all girls. Have I ever not lived on the 4th floor of college residence? :)

I'm really happy, since it was my first choice, and definitely the best place to get a regular, single room as an entering student. I actually hadn't asked for a single when I applied. However, after weighing the pros and cons of a having a roommate, I'm probably better off. It would have been unlikely that I could have shared a room with another upperclasswoman. And I also have a bit more privacy with a single.

I wouldn't have minded having an en-suite room, except that the residence they are located in has a reputation for being insular. I won't know anyone when I come over, so I did not want to be isolated. So I'm happy.

For courses, I'm taking two architecture courses. The first covers the art of the International Style (including Frank Lloyd Wright), and is taught by a widely lauded professor. She also teaches modern Russian Art (Kandinsky! Brancusi!), will I plan on taking 2nd semester.

The other class is on home and landscape architecture, specifically British homes built from 1650-1750. The class will actually get to travel and look at many of them 1st hand. No idea who teaches it...

I'm sort of torn on the 2nd class for 2nd semester.

I'm also kinda' torn on what to do with life right now. It seems like I have two very different choices:

a) landscape architecture
b) diplomacy

I have somehow managed to rack up enough appropriate coursework to pursue furthur studies in both. Although I am an art/architectual history major, I still have taken twice as many courses in government and economics (from my freshman and sophomore years).

If I become a diplomat, I could take the foreign services exam and work with Josh.

If I become a landscape architect, I could employ my creative abilities, and get paid handsomely to be, basically, an artist. :)

Both careers are cool. But my indecisiveness is getting stressful.

Too Cool

I said I wouldn't post on this anymore, but this new system is a little too cool.

Cute Flirt

What Kind of FLIRT are you?
brought to you by Quizilla
